Background

Puntland Vocational Centre was established in 2023 as a response to the high youth population in Somalia who had failed to access or progress through the formal education system. Through our programmes, we seek to enroll the most at risk youth into vocational education. Our comprehensive social enterprise model equips all students with theoretical and practical skills for their chosen course. The skills acquired enable graduated students to gain formal employment or start their own businesses.

The centre also work to provide demand driven TVET training; promotion of Job Service Office (JSO); networking with governments, TVET partners and corporate world and promotion of regional and international Green TVET initiatives through green economy projects. Thus, ensuring quality of life and decent employment for the young people.

To provide an educative environment where students, management and staff acknowledge their value, dignity and talents through communitarian life acquiring suitable skills aligned with the job market and emerging technologies in partnership with relevant companies and organization

To be a model institution mainly oriented to the less privileged youth which offers a holistic education, provides quality technical, entrepreneurial and vocational skills always in line with emerging technologies and new ways of training.

Thematic Areas

  • To give a better technical training through: upgrading of existing courses; tailoring of syllabus to integrate the demands of the job market.
  • Increase the entrepreneurial capability of students through training and mentorship from managers of companies.
  • Expose Students to various existing career opportunities in their specialties earlier enough.
  • To reduce the negative perception from the community that VTIs are for failures by organizing Open Days and meetings.
  • Improve students networking with the best national and international VTIs.
